Who Contracts for the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse?

With the Left Behind series all the rage, Biblical prophecy gained quite a following in today’s culture. The Rapture Ready website scores how close the world is the final conflagration. It will be ushered in by the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse traditionally known as War, Famine, Pestilence, and Death.

Yet war, famine, pestilence and death all have upstream conditions or causes that foster their occurrence. Since Biblical times, man’s capacity to heal disease and feed the world has grown substantially. Unfortunately so has our ability to exterminate our brothers and sisters in humanity via war, also known as intentional harm, death and destruction.

Sad to note that even with our tremendous achievements people continue to starve to death, die of curable diseases, and struggle under the yoke of internal conflict or all out war. Why has mankind not shared its developments? The answer to that question is also the answer to the title of the article, who hired the Four Horsemen?

Greed, Ignorance, Rage, and Competition prevent humanity from sharing God’s abundance with all. Combined they shout for the Horsemen from the mountaintops. Each gives its refrain, the insatiable need to possess more, the ego driven view that another human is lesser than, the voracious appetite of fury driven revenge, and the need to win while making the other lose. This ghastly group of chanters drives the Four.

Our U.S. President hears the call of all, but the Red Horseman's rings loudest, the rider representing war. George W. Bush even hopes to be known as “the War President”. Other world leaders seem to share his aspirations.

What does the Red Horseman hear? He hears profits at all costs. Greed calls “there is no need to spare the human toll to make more money or control more resources whether they be land, water, or oil.”

Ignorance does but one thing. It implants the ego in each person causing them to be self serving and hiding their always on connection to their source, to God himself. Tribes and nations become more important than being a child in God’s family of humanity. Thus it becomes easy to harm, steal, kill and destroy.

Rage blinds what ignorance and greed cannot. It gives an adrenaline rush to those needing to count more coins, take more territory, avenge a loss, grab more land, secure oil and water, or teach a lesson to the ignorant on the other side worshipping the wrong platry human image of God.

Competition plants the seed that God failed in his abundance, that there is not enough of anything to go around. Therefore people need to compete. Not only does one have to work hard to get theirs, they must cause their enemies to lose! And whatever methods one needs to use to win, well that’s O.K! Elevating itself to religious like status, Competition knows the real goal is simply to win .

Yes, Greed, Ignorance, Rage, and Competition all call the Red Horseman who calls our President. It is good to have a Christian man in the White House. Now we just need Christ to return to show President Bush the real teachings of Jesus.
