Evil Is the Final Say?

Dear President Bush,

While the government did not get the death penalty for the left behind hijacker, Zacarias Moussaoui, he will have to spend the rest of his life in prison. The jury concluded Moussaoui to be a bit player with little to no role in the 9-11 attacks. You chose to weigh in after the verdict announcement with “Evil will not have the final say. This great nation will prevail.”

It appears evil is the strategy in motion as both sides use intentional violence, death and destruction against the other. Hundreds of thousands of people, most of them innocent women and children, die from the direct and indirect impact of war. The cycle of violence becomes ingrained in a culture, an addiction difficult to break especially when inflammatory leaders continue to incite.

Whether evil has the final say remains to be seen, but it has a clear hand up when leaders of both sides profess to be on the side of good with their opponent nestled up to evil. Such leaders do an injustice to their people. They also point out the stick in the other’s eye while ignoring the log in their own…..
