Great White Hunter Plans “Freedom to Fire” Trip

Dear President Bush,

How exciting the Vice President will soon visit countries slow to advance freedom and democracy. V.P. Cheney will meet with the President of Kazakhstan despite State Department concerns of increasing authoritarianism. Might that country’s significant oil and gas reserves help get them a free pass. You and Sec. Rice just met with two other strongmen who happen to have rich mineral resources below ground.

Will the Veep do any hunting while traveling abroad promoting his “Freedom to Fire” agenda? It sounds like he has the Iranian President in his sights as V.P. Cheney looks to crank up the heat internationally. The Soviet President may also be in Dick’s crosshairs for centralizing power undemocratically. Does Vladmir Putin not know it is OK as long as you use the term “unitary executive”?

A speech in Lithuania is to be the highlight of the trip. Hopefully the Vice President will be more forthcoming than the days after he shot the Texas trial lawyer. I fully expect Mr. Cheney to shoot from the hip during his trip.

My only question is who sponsors the Vice President on such international boondoggles? Jack Abramoff took House Minority Leader Tom Delay to Scotland for golf. Who is taking Vice President Cheney to the Baltic Sea for hunting and maybe a little fishing? Don’t tell me it’s the National Rifle Association? No wonder it got named the “Freedom to Fire” agenda.

P.S. Most of this post is fiction. (V.P. Cheney is going on a trip but only on the Freedom Agenda.)
