With his inflammatory language Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad might have just invited the full force of Israel’s war machine be unleashed on him and his country. While attending a meeting of Islamic countries the Iranian President said:
"Although the main solution is for the elimination of the Zionist regime, at this stage an immediate cease-fire must be implemented….Israel is an illegitimate regime, there is no legal basis for its existence"
In his diatribe Ahmadinejad accused Muslims countries to isolate the United States and Britain for their support of Israel. His comments place him in danger of isolation. The question is which way direction will Middle Eastern leaders place their loyalty? Bush plays a dirty game of division domestically. It appears he is doing likewise in the region.
Tempers grow short in the region as no material progress is made toward peace as fighting enters its 4th week. All Middle Eastern countries have called for an immediate cease fire, in that they are unified. Will Bush have succeeded in uniting Muslim countries against the United States? Time will tell.
In the meantime the greater war plan is executed. Nukes over Tehran? Bush and Olmert relish the sight. My vote is for all three to step down, and if not, for all nuclear weapons in the region to be destroyed. That way inflammatory leaders like Bush, Olmert and Ahmadinejad won’t have access to weapons of mass destruction. None are trustworthy enough to bear such a profound responsibility.
