Escalating Rhetoric & Actions in Middle East

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad gave his country’s answer to the United Nations resolution three weeks early. His resounding “no” echoed in his statement “'The Iranian nation considers the peaceful use of nuclear fuel production technology its right."

What does that do to U.S. and Israeli plans in Lebanon, Syria, and Iran as the Middle East cauldron heats to the boiling point? How will the newest country and its foreign interloper remake the Middle East uniting against their aggression in Lebanon?

The disturbing revelations indicate leadership pathology to be widespread. Threats are met with military buildups, long range invasion planning, and one upsmanship demands and responses. Bush, Olmert, and Ahmadinejad couldn’t peacefully make their way out of a wet paper bag. Yet they plan and plot, ensuring their people and the enemy will suffer greatly.

The great Christian, Jewish and Muslim leaders all claim to be God inspired. I want to be a fly on the wall when all three meet their maker. My bet is God shows them the way to peace is not via war, intentional harm, death and destruction. As each feels the pain they imposed on thousands of innocents, the lesson becomes clear.

“There is no way to peace, peace is the way.”-Ghandi
