Jolting Joe

Doing his best Avigdor imitation, Joe Lieberman suggested the U.S. prepare to bomb Iran. "Much of the action could probably be done by air." Does Joe not recall Winston Churchill's experience with such a strategy in Iraq in the early 1900's? Despite dropping thousands of tons of bombs, the British never cowed those "recalcitrant Arabs".

And this strategy will work better with Persians in Iran? Check out Joe's line of thinking:

"We cannot let them get away with it. If we do, they'll take that as a sign of weakness on our part and we will pay for it in Iraq and throughout the region and ultimately right here at home."

While arms have been traced to Iran, they haven't been tracked back to the government. Does this mean the Lebanese should bomb the U.S. as our manufacturers provided cluster bombs dropped by the millions last summer in Southern Lebanon as Israel retreated? Using Joe's line of thinking we may have more to fear from our democratic friends in the region than our enemies.

Does Joe know the U.S. military is dropping bombs in Iraq at twice the rate of last year? Who do we need to fear as a result of our ordinance? At least Joe is finally living up to many people's predictions earlier this year, that Bush has an end in sight and he pushes his pawn's to make it happen. "Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran..." It's a good thing Nancy Pelosi dropped the bill language opposing such an attack just days before the spring AIPAC meeting. How much longer will I have to wait to see more American knuckle dragging in the Middle East, courtesy of the Lieberman "brothers"? I would have bet on our bombing Iran just after New Year's. But, please don't do so on my account.
