While Paris Hilton struggles in a sea of jailhouse depression, President Bush has visions of drilling the high seas. Today, he issued a statement urging the Senate to act favorably on U.S. accession to the U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea. In his press release President Bush stated:
"It will secure U.S. sovereign rights over extensive marine areas, including the valuable natural resources they contain."
He didn't mention the specific areas, but Bush has been known to invade other countries in search of resources, military or natural. We've seen America's grab in the modern day "Commons" of space. Is this another earthly stake driven to hold U.S. control of the commons of the seas? Highly likely, as later the President mentions the Great Barrier Reef and Galapagos Archipelago. I'll let you know what I find out...
