New Peace Plan in U.N. a “Boltonian Knot”?

Recall the United States’ backing of the Israeli revenge inspired war machine for nearly a month. Bush and Company repeatedly said “Israel has a right to defend herself”. Now comes a U.N. resolution that continues that right, courtesy of John Bolton’s hard work.

The United States and France agreed Saturday on a draft U.N. Security Council resolution that calls for a halt to the fighting between Israel and Lebanese Hezbollah guerrillas, but would allow Israel to defend itself if attacked.

Israel’s action in the mind of the world greatly exceeded an eye for an eye. All but the U.S. called the incursion and its wide toll on innocent human life and democratic infrastructure “disproportionate”.

If no guidelines for a reasonable defense are included, the slightest provocation could result in more widespread destruction and the predictable killing of innocents.
