The All Star cast that drew close to fifty San Angeloans to the ArcLight Bar & Grill included:
Dr. Walt Landers - Senior Pastor TLC Church & founder/CEO of Texas Leadership Schools
Trey Holmes - Pastor Community Hills Christian Church and financial advisor for BKM Financial
Joe Hyde - Owner of San Angelo Live and ArcLight Bar & Grill
Kellye Duncan Garrett - Vice President Texas Federation of Republican Women
Shawn Nanny - Tom Green County Commissioner
Senator John Barasso, M.D. - U.S. Senator for Wyoming & Senate Majority Whip
Attorney General Ken Paxton - candidate for U.S. Senator for Texas
I counted forty three persons as the camera panned the crowd for Paxton's entry and exit. I'm sure there were some people in the audience that could not be on the video.
Surely San Angelo Live reported on the crowd size.
The event, on day 12 of the roughly 18-day swing, drew local officials and campaign allies.
I believe they call that a whiff.
The Daily Beast ran a story characterizing attendance "in the dozens" while providing a layout of the room.
Seven star level speakers drew roughly fifty people? That's seven attendees per speaker.
Ironically two speakers, Joe Hyde and Shawn Nanny, have been on opposite sides of the data center issue. Hyde called San Angelo data center opponents "low IQ idiots, weirdos and losers."
Nanny believes "that rural Texas communities—which manage local water, land, and food production—deserve mandatory water impact studies, local drought safeguards, and a genuine voice in decisions affecting their future."
These two did not come to blows during the political rally. However, one protester interrupted Senator Barasso's whipping up of Red Team voters. Barasso slapped him with a "crazy" label.
Attendance would have been higher had one citizen not been escorted out of the room for wearing a shirts that read:
"Who hasn't taken a bribe or two, right?"
The ejection occurred prior to Joe Hyde's remarks about free speech on YouTube.
The Mirror US did a story on Paxton cancelling campaign stops after his San Angelo visit.
I recall the Republican Women doing an outstanding job mobilizing the vote multiple times for San Angelo Mayor J.W. Lown who later quit to be with his undocumented gay lover. Mrs. Duncan Garrett noted she sent 500 texts to mobilize attendance for the rally and got only one snide reply.
Texans are generally polite people who like to vote. We'll see how this thing turns out....
