A signer of the 1998 letter to President Clinton and Congressional leaders encouraging “regime change in Iraq” will soon be our U.N. Ambassador. Zalmay Khalilzad happens to be replacing the man one line up on the signature portion, Mr. John Bolton. Zalmay also signed a statement suggesting America reshape the world in our image. Does America really need another heavy hand representing us at the United Nations?
Mr. Khalilzad joins John Negroponte as part of America’s new diplomatic team. I’m afraid strongmen would be a better term. If regime change is in order, John and Zalmay are the team to call. Expect the exact opposite of Bush’s call for transparency in his plans for the Middle East…
