Imagined Press Conference to Defend Bush’s New Way Forward in Iraq

I can envision President Bush fielding questions from the press gaggle on key aspects of his “plans” for the Middle East. As they pepper our heavy footed national bleeder, he can only give one reply.

Q: After Saddam Hussein was captured in December 2003 you said “I also have a message for all Americans: The capture of Saddam Hussein does not mean the end of violence in Iraq.” What will it take to stop the violence?

A: D’oh!

Q: After the killing of al-Zarqawi in June 2006, you said “We can expect the sectarian violence to continue.” What will it take to stop the violence?

A: D’oh!

Q: After hanging Saddam Hussein with a rope December 2006, you said “Bringing Saddam Hussein to justice will not end the violence in Iraq.” What will it take to end the violence?

A: D’oh!

Q: In presenting your new way forward in Iraq last night from the White House Library, you said “This new strategy will not yield an immediate end to suicide bombings, assassinations, or IED attacks.” What will it take to end the senseless violence in Iraq?

A: D’oh! Attacking Iran and Syria?

And how would you feel after hearing such a thing….
