Bush’s New White House Counsel

President Bush’s new legal counsel, Fred Fielding brings with him a strong background in corporate law and white collar defense/crisis management. Our current president likely desires both skill sets as he transitions to a Democratic controlled Congress. Mr. Fielding served on the 9-11 Commission. It turns out Fred is a Wahoo having graduated from the University of Virginia Law School. Did he weigh in on George Allen’s slight to a fellow University of Virginia student last summer with the “Macaca” comment?

As for Fred’s return to the White House he spoke highly of such work in a 2001 interview.

“I would urge anyone who has the opportunity to serve a president to do so. It can be the worst experience of your life, but it can also be wonderful.”

So what will it be for Fred this go round? Nixon bad, Reagan good, Bush _____? Fred may have a lot of defending to do…
