Bolivian Leader May Wish to Heed History

President Morales of Bolivia may want to check what happened to past world leaders who nationalized their country’s natural resources at the expense of Western corporate entities. Evo Morales enacted round 2 of the naturalization process of Bolivia’s petroleum and natural gas reserves.

Foreign companies signed deals granting the government a majority stake in their operations in that country. What will Spain, Argentina, France, Brazil, Britain and the U.S. do in response? Will it bear any resemblance to past tamperings in Iran over oil and Guatemala over bananas?

President Eisenhower ordered a CIA engineered coup in Iran on behalf of a British oil company. Which country’s government will undertake action against the Morales government for his action? Wait, watch and see…
