Skimming Needs Grow by the Day


The collection deficit from the BP oil spew is incomprehensibly large and growing. NASA described this picture as:

On Saturday, June 19, 2010, oil spread northeast from the leaking Deepwater Horizon well in the Gulf of Mexico. The oil appears as a maze of silvery-gray ribbons in this photo-like image from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra satellite.

There seems to be plenty of room for the A Whale and other supertankers. America needs all the skimmers it can mobilize. I recall Matt Simmons saying we'd wasted 37 days. It's now Day 73.
